Visiting New England in the fall is on lots of bucket lists and for good reason. In mid-October the trees turn from green into a riot of reds, yellows and oranges. A swathe of colour can be seen all the way along the East coast of the United States and up into Canada. Many Americans take the opportunity to head outside to view the splendour and get back to nature for a short while before the bad winter weather sets in.
Of course Autumn is also the season for Halloween and Thanksgiving is just around the corner too, so there is something of a celebratory feeling in the air in lots of the small towns you pass through. Piles of pumpkins can be seen stacked outside stores and the coffee shops start selling pumpkin lattes.
If you get the chance to see New England, it really is picturesque at the best of times, but in the Autumn even more so. If you have started a bucket list, New England in the fall probably merits a place!
